Biography
Emily Tsang is a journalist with 13 year experience in the profession. She is currently a news editor in the South China Morning Post. She was a journalist fellow at the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism in Oxford University. She holds a Master in Journalism, and a Master of Laws in Human Rights, both from the University of Hong Kong. Emily started her career in Ming Pao, a local newspaper in Hong Kong, in 2008. She was among the first to report about the emerging parallel trading in Hong Kong, and her award-winning story in 2010 revealed a manager of a local supermarket taking bribes from China traders hoarding infant formula for speculation, leading to the arrest of two staff members of the supermarket. Since Emily joined the South China Morning Post in 2010, she has covered numerous major breaking news on issues concerning health care, human rights and social justice in both China and Hong Kong. Having her finger on the pulse of Hong Kong society, Emily conceives, drives and executes news coverage on a day-to-day basis, leading a team of beat reporters covering social issues. She also supervises City Weekend, a weekly community news-driven section that offers in-depth analysis on complex social issues. The team she led has won numerous local news awards. |
