Biography

Born and raised in Hong Kong, Heiward Mak Hei-yan (a renowned Hong Kong movie director, writer and producer. Her work, including her latest film Fagara, were featured in many film festivals worldwide. She was nominated and awarded a number of film awards, including a Hong Kong Film Award for Best Screenplay. 

After earning a degree majoring in design studies at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Heiward began her career in filmmaking whilst she was completing a creative media programme at the City University of Hong Kong.  In 2008, her directorial debut High Noon was well received, and earned her a nomination for a Hong Kong Film Award for Best New Director.  Since then, she maintains her dynamic role across various media, from writing short stories, screenplays, to directing music videos and feature films. Her work often explores the intertwining relationships of HongKongers in their piece of the world. As the founder of a production company Dumb Youth, she is dedicated to producing original work from local artists.

麥曦茵（Heiward）生於香港、長於香港，現為香港著名電影導演、編劇及監製。她的作品（包括近作《花椒之味》）曾於世界各大電影節放映。她亦獲提名及奪得多項電影獎項，如香港電影金像獎最佳編劇。

Heiward曾於香港理工大學修讀平面設計，後來在香港城市大學修讀創意媒體課程時投身電影製作行業。2008年，她執導的首個長片《烈日當空》廣獲好評，並獲提名角逐第廿八屆香港電影金像獎最佳新導演。自始，她積極參與各種媒體製作，由寫短篇故事及編劇，到導演音樂影片及長篇電影。她的作品常探索香港人在他們世界中互相糾纏的微妙關係。她創辦製作公司Dumb Youth，旨在起用本土藝術家製作原創作品。
